Netflix and A24 are moving forward with Beef Season 2 and an all-star cast. The streaming giant announced its plans today to move forward with another batch of episodes for the award-winning show. It’ll be an eight-episode season this time around, giving viewers two less episodes than they received with last year’s season. Beef Season 2 adds Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny to the cast. While the slightly shorter run may be disappointing to some, audiences should know that Beef Season 2 will bring with it a number of big names, including Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Star Wars: Episode 7 – The Force Awakens), Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman, Maestro), Charles Melton (Riverdale, The Sun Is Also a Star), and Cailee Spaeny (Civil War, Alien: Romulus).Beef got its start last year with stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong. While the show managed to nab a number of awards, including three at The Golden Globes, Season 1 came to a close by tying a bow on the story of its two main characters. With its first tale of revenge wrapped up, the door is open to start fresh with Season 2.Getting the next season onto the frying pan has taken a bit longer than some may have expected. Rumors of a follow-up first arrived in March of this year. Although Spaeny and Melton have been in the running from the get-go, reports first signaled that it would be Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway filling in the other co-star slots. Those casting choices seemed to take a turn in June, when a Deadline report said that Isaac and Mulligan had become the top choice for the show’s return. With the cast now locked in and work on Beef Season 2 underway, Netflix has finally revealed an official logline.“A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner,” the logline says.
